About Moviz

Last updated: 2026-08-12

Moviz (https://moviz.it) is a free daily movie-guessing game. Each day it offers twelve short puzzles that test how well you know cinema from different angles — a real filming location, a single famous line, a plot told in emoji, an actor's filmography, a release year, and more. It is meant to be a small, satisfying daily ritual for film lovers: quick to play, hard to master, and back with something new tomorrow. New here? Start with How to Play.

Why it exists

Moviz began as a hobby project — a way to combine a love of films with the daily-puzzle format that makes a game worth returning to. There is no company behind it and no venture backing: just an interest in cinema and in building something people enjoy. Keeping it free and open to everyone matters more than anything else about it, which is why the site is supported by unobtrusive advertising rather than paywalls or accounts.

Who runs it

The site is built and maintained by Nicolas Chinellato, a private individual based in the European Union. It is an independent project with no affiliation to, or endorsement by, any film studio, distributor, streaming service or the people it features. For anything at all, you can reach out via the Contact page or write to moviz.support@gmail.com.

Where the photos and data come from

Moviz is built on open, freely licensed sources, credited throughout the game:

  • Filming-location photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licenses, with the author and license shown beneath each photo.
  • Actor and director data derives from Wikidata, released under the CC0 public-domain dedication.
  • Movie titles, quotes and names appear only in minimal, quotation-like form to identify films and people in a guessing game — they remain the property of their respective rights holders.

If you are a rights holder and believe something oversteps, see the Terms or contact us — it will be reviewed promptly.

Your privacy

The game keeps your progress in your own browser and runs no first-party analytics. The only third-party cookies are advertising cookies from Adsterra, and they are set only if you agree — nothing loads before you answer, wherever you are in the world.
