The short version: Moviz has no accounts and no login, and your game progress stays in your own browser. The site is free and supported by advertising: we show ads through Adsterra, which uses cookies to serve and measure them. Those cookies are set only after you agree — we ask everyone, everywhere, and the game is identical if you say no. That is the only cookie-based tracking here, and you can change your mind at any time.
Who runs this site
Moviz (https://moviz.it) is a free, ad-supported hobby project operated by Nicolas Chinellato, a private individual based in the European Union, who acts as the data controller for the limited processing described below. For any privacy question or request, write to moviz.support@gmail.com.
What we collect ourselves
Almost nothing. Moviz itself runs no accounts, no first-party analytics and no server-side profiling:
- No accounts, names, or email addresses — there is nothing to sign up for.
- No first-party analytics or fingerprinting of our own.
- No gameplay data leaves your device to us: guesses, scores and streaks are never transmitted to or stored by Nicolas Chinellato.
The one third party that may set cookies and receive data about your visit is our advertising provider, Adsterra — and only if you have agreed. It is described under Advertising below.
Data stored in your browser (localStorage)
To make the daily game work, Moviz saves your progress in your browser's localStorage. This storage is strictly necessary to provide the game you are asking for (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive), so no consent is required for it. It is separate from advertising cookies, is never used for ads, stays on your device until you delete it, and is readable only by this site.

You can erase all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings (usually under “Cookies and site data”). The only consequence is losing your stats and streaks.
Advertising (Adsterra)
To keep the game free, Moviz displays ads served by Adsterra — the trading name of Ad Market Limited (Christaki Kranou 49, Germasogeia, 4041 Limassol, Cyprus; company number HE 361574) together with Admedia LLC FZ in the United Arab Emirates. Once ads are active, Adsterra and the advertisers bidding through it use cookies and similar identifiers to select which ad to show, cap how often you see the same one, guard against click fraud, and measure performance. To do this they may process technical data such as your IP address, the approximate location derived from it, your device and browser characteristics, and the fact that you visited this site.
None of that happens until you allow it. The ad code is not merely instructed to hold back — it is never inserted into the page at all until you choose “Accept”, so a visit you leave unanswered, or one where you decline, sets no advertising cookies and sends nothing to Adsterra. We ask everyone, in every country, because the scripts behave the same wherever you are and this is the only arrangement that holds up in every jurisdiction. For the data it collects through these ads, Adsterra acts as an independent data controller: it never passes through us and we cannot access it. Their practices are set out in the Adsterra privacy policy and the Adsterra cookies policy, and questions about that data can be sent to them at support@adsterra.com. Because Adsterra operates from Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates, accepting may involve a transfer of technical data outside the European Economic Area to a country without an EU adequacy decision. Our legal basis is your consent, both for storing and reading non-essential cookies (Article 5(3) ePrivacy Directive) and for the advertising built on that data (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Cookie consent and how to withdraw it
On your first visit, a bar at the bottom of the page asks whether advertising cookies are allowed. Accepting takes one tap; refusing takes two — “Manage options”, then “Reject all” — and the advertising switch in that panel starts off, so saving without touching it refuses as well. There is no button that dismisses the question without answering it, and leaving without choosing counts as a refusal. Your answer is kept in your browser's localStorage under cineguesser-ad-consent rather than in a cookie — so if you decline, this site sets no cookies whatsoever.
A refusal is remembered for six months. After that the bar appears once more, so that a choice made long ago is not treated as permanent — and no advertising cookie is set in the meantime. Accepting is remembered until you withdraw it.
To change your answer at any time, use Cookie settings in the footer of any page. It clears the stored choice and reloads the page, which is deliberate: a script that has already executed cannot be recalled, and only a fresh page is genuinely free of it.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a refusal and do not ask at all. No advertising cookies are set unless you later choose to opt in here explicitly.
US state privacy rights
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or another US state with a consumer privacy law, advertising cookies of this kind may count as a “sale” or as “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Declining — or simply never accepting — is the opt-out, and it is reachable from every page through the footer. We honour Global Privacy Control automatically, so a browser configured to send it is opted out without doing anything. We do not knowingly collect or process sensitive personal information, and we never use it for targeted advertising.
Hosting and server logs
The site runs on a virtual private server provided by Contabo GmbH (Munich, Germany), and is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc. (San Francisco, USA), which acts as a content-delivery network and security proxy. Like any web host or CDN, they process the technical data your browser sends when loading a page — including your IP address — in short-lived logs used to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not access or combine this data with anything else. Any transfer to the USA via Cloudflare is covered by Cloudflare's participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Through the same provider we also run Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts how many times each page is loaded and from which country and device type. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser and cannot follow you to any other site — it measures page loads, not people. That is why it is not covered by the consent question below: there is nothing stored on your device to agree to. It processes the same short-lived technical data as the rest of the delivery path, on the same legal basis, and it runs for every visitor, including those who decline advertising cookies.
Sharing your results
The “Share” button only copies a spoiler-free text grid to your clipboard. Nothing is posted or transmitted anywhere — what you do with the copied text is up to you.

Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection (Articles 15–21), and the right to withdraw consent at any time (Article 7(3)). Because we hold no personal data about you on our side, in most cases there will simply be nothing for us to act on — for data Adsterra processes through ads, write to support@adsterra.com or see the Adsterra privacy policy. You can always contact us at moviz.support@gmail.com, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Children
The game is intended for a general audience and collects no personal data from anyone directly. Advertising here is not directed to children. We do not knowingly permit the collection of personal information from children under 13 — or under the higher age set by local law, such as 16 in parts of the EU. If you believe a child's data has been collected through this site, write to us and it will be dealt with promptly.
Changes to this policy
If the site changes in a way that affects your data, this policy will be updated and the date above revised. Changes that require consent will ask for it before anything is activated.
